Bricoleur: a French term, used in education to mean
"a scholarly practitioner who works in the real world
of learning, drawing upon a wide range of scholarly methods, practices, and knowledge".
Welcome
The metaphor of bricoleur offers insight into the research and works of my doctoral program in Educational Leadership at St. John's University, Oakdale Campus. This program was structured to prepare each student working in the field of education with a repertoire of leadership skills and knowledge applicable to the ever-changing complex and dynamic world of schools.
As a bricoleur, that is, scholar practitioner, I take from this program a composite of methodologies, experiences, and perceptions that have prepared me to be the consummate leader; one who can balance the immediate needs and demands of my role as school leader with the responsibilities every leader inherits to work toward social equity and justice.
I was able to amass a large toolkit of skills while in the leadership program and apply some of those skills to build this web site, this bricolage; a construction arising from the relationship of inquiry, knowledge, and practices through which each course and professor led us.
This site is divided into five major sections, each devoted to a part of my life as a student of the St. John's University educational leadership program. Together, they compose this site...this bricolage.

Theodore Roosevelt unwittingly best described the bricoleur:
"Do what you can, where you are, with what you have."
The PowerPoint Presentation gives a quick tour of this program and my proposed scholarly research.
