Personal

 Florida Outdoors

When I'm not involved in work for my school and coursework for my classes, I enjoy building my own bricolage of personal enjoyment activities. I moved to Florida from Long Island while I was in the doctoral program classes, so I flew back and forth to attend school. Southwest Airlines and I became very well acquainted.

I live on the west coast of Florida, near the beach, and in a great little town that always has some special event going on.  Living here allows me to enjoy being near my my sister and family, bike riding, snorkeling, and exploring the local shops and beaches. Florida weather encourages me to get outside every day, so now I use my errands as an excuse to bike or walk around town.

My hometown of Gulfport is a small, quaint artists' haven near St. Petersburg. To see pictures of the town and activities, click here for the Gulport website. (Click the back button to return to my site.)

 Reading

A bricoleur is always working to form a diverse set of knowledge so that multiple perspectives can be developed. My reading interests range from esoteric to eclectic. I enjoy historically-based novels, biographies, mysteries, current events, and anthropology. I often find  authors who "speak to me" and read practically everything they have written.  Some of my latest favorite books include:

The Soul of Rumi By Coleman Barks

Outliers (Hardcover)                 Einstein                   The Poetry of Pablo Neruda

 Traveling

When I can get away, I love to take short cruises to the islands and Mexico.  These excursions  offer tours during which I can soak up the culture and history of these countries. I always fit snorkeling into my itinerary. Click on the buttons below to go to sites which further explain some places I've recently visited:

  BelizeHonduras Chichen Itza
Grand CaymanTurks/CaicosBahamas

"We are shaped and fashioned by what we love."     -Goethe

Learning about and being involved in my community, reading from a variety of genres, and traveling to new places keeps expanding my views and knowledge of the world in which I live.  These experiences and information help stock my personal toolbox and give me perspectives to use in my work as a leader and educator, and helps me maintain a balance between mind, body, and spirit.
